Talking Art in the Upper Mountains | Coming Event 07
‘The FEISTY AND FRANK Guide to Writing and Self Publishing’
with Julie Ankers and Kerry Chater
(Sat 4 May, 3-4pm at the Carrington Hotel Library)
Our next Talking Art podcast and live event will be with well-known radio host and author Julie Ankers and ghost writer, editor and wordsmith Kerry Chater. This promises to be a lively and entertaining conversation between two local high calibre creatives. The conversation will be sure to be of interest to writers and creative entrepreneurs as these two women have years of professional expertise and wisdom to share.
Julie is the president and station manager of Radio Blue Mountains, and hosts two programs – Talking Newspapers and ARTHouse. She has self-published two books, ‘Feisty, Fabulous & 50+’, and ‘Call Me Frank’, both focusing on the stories of over 50’s. She is also a member of the City Arts Trust and is founder of Mountains and Metal, a collective of local contemporary jewellers.
Kerry has specialised in writing for over 20 years, and has helped many people write their life stories. She has ghost-written a series of books on financial intelligence, as well as an interesting mix of biographies. She also co-authored ‘The Equality Myth’ published in 1995 by Allen and Unwin. She and Julie have travelled extensively promoting Julie’s books, which Kerry also edited.
In the Upper Mountains we gather on the first Saturday of each month at 4pm in the Carrington Hotel library. We have a varying program of guest artists and themed conversations. Please visit www.talkingart.com.au to hear podcasts of recent conversations.
Currently we are looking for a new permanent venue but one upcoming event will be held in July at the studio of well known Blue Mountains photographer Gary Hayes. One to look out for.
